Snow, Snow, and More Snow

Well, we've definitely had our fair share of snow this year...and I think we're all ready for it to be over! A few weeks back we had a BIG snowstorm that left us with a couple feet of snow.

We decided to take Jenna outside to play in the snow and to give her a ride on a sled. Since we didn't have any snow boots for Jenna and we couldn't bring ourselves to buy brand new ones that she'd probably only wear once or twice, we decided to steal our friend, Tami Delimpo's idea. So we wrapped Jenna's feet in sandwich bags and put a rubber band around the top to secure them. Of course we didn't stay outside too long since that wouldn't keep her feet as warm, but it worked well enough for keeping her feet dry.

Thanksmas 2009

I'm going to skip over Christmas right now and go to Thanksgiving. Drew's family came out again this year for Thanksgiving (thanks everyone!!). As is our custom, we celebrated Christmas then too, so we've dubbed the holiday Thanksmas now.

I have SO many pictures from Thanksmas that I'm not even going to try to get them organized on here. So it'll just be a smattering of pictures from that time. Enjoy!

It was so nice meeting Natalie and having James join us too! Our family's growing!! And just think...next Thanksmas we'll have another "little one" around. :)

The Unexpected

As most everyone who reads this blog already knows, we are expecting baby #2. I am currently 12 weeks along and have been feeling alright for the first trimester - occasional nausea and tiredness, but that's to be expected. Well, this past weekend we had a "scare" and made a trip to the ER Saturday night thinking we might have miscarried the baby. During the ultrasound we saw that our baby was still alive and quite active and the heartbeat looked good. So that relieved our immediate concerns; however, I was still having issues on Sunday and called my doctor on Monday to schedule an appointment, hoping to learn more about what's going on. During our visit to the doctor we found out that our baby was alright and looking good (YAY!), but also that we actually had indeed miscarried...apparently we were expecting TWINS! Of course this came as a shock to us because we had no idea. The doctor informed us that the baby that miscarried was most likely only a few cells (too tiny to see) that hadn't been growing or developing; however, the sac had been growing. So in the ultrasound we could see two sacs - one on top of the other - one with a baby and one without.

Although it's sad to learn that we did miscarry, we are so thankful that we still have a baby on the way! God is good!! We look forward to meeting Baby B sometime around July 30th (yes, our due date got moved up a little).

Happy Birthday Jenna!

Wow...I need to get caught up on here! I'll start at Jenna's birthday and work backwards from there (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Kelley's wedding, and all the fun stuff in between).

I can't believe our little girl has turned 1 already! Her birthday was Saturday, January 2nd, so we had a party for her that Saturday from 11:30-2:00. After I sent out the invitations I realized that her party would fall during the time she was born - at 1:32 pm. So we decided to wait and sing Happy Birthday to her at 1:32. :) We kept the party small and just invited family in the area - Jenna's grandparents, aunt and uncle, great aunts and uncles, and great grandparents. She got a lot of nice gifts (thanks everyone!) and she was especially fun to watch open her gifts. She had improved since Christmas and was now pulling tissue paper out of bags and ripping wrapping paper off of boxes. Too funny! We went with a cupcake theme for her party and had cupcake invitations that I made, her cupcake dress, cupcake decorations, and of course cupcakes for dessert!

This was Jenna's first taste of chocolate...she LOVED it! She definitely takes after her mother. :) She just kept shoveling handfuls into her mouth.

Jenna also started walking a week before her birthday, so here's a picture of her "teetering" along. We'll upload a video here soon of her walking.

Happy birthday Jenna! We love you!!
