Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Drew!

So I thought it would be cute to take a picture of Grant in one of Drew's ties with only his diaper on. Since it's hard to get him to cooperate at this age, I took LOTS of pictures.

Then I took some of Jenna in Drew's shirt and tie. She did a pretty good job letting me take some pictures, but it didn't last long. So I only had a few to choose from.

Then I printed a picture of each of them and put them in a frame for Drew to take to work. I wasn't sure what he would think, but he loved it

Here are some other pictures from Father's Day...

Grant trying to escape!

I wanted to get a picture of Daddy with his kids. The first shot was a great one of Jenna - a great smile and all, but Grant wasn't looking at the camera.

Then I got him to look at the camera, but Jenna was frowning and looking away.

Then I got both of them looking, but neither are smiling and Grant's even starting to get frustrated and throw a fit. Haha...oh well!

We went on a little walk and even blew some bubbles. I promise Jenna was with us...just off doing her own thing. :)

Daredevil - standing up in his wagon. I just have to clarify...Mommy was NOT in favor of this, but somebody else really loved how "adventurous" his son was being. :) I love his facial expression in this pic - so much concentration!

Jenna and Grant are blessed with a WONDERFUL daddy who loves spending time with his kids. He's also such a hands-on dad and helps with diaper changes, bath time, bedtime, and general pick-up. I'm also blessed to have such an amazing husband to raise kids with. I love you Drew!!

June Happenings

Here are just some random pictures from this past month...

I can't remember when this picture was taken, but it looks as if we just came in from being outside. He is enjoying his strawberries and string cheese though.

Love this picture!

Jenna wanted to feed Grant

Grant started "bear crawling" when on the pavement.

Jenna dressed up her shirt in stickers from Aunt Cathy!

Proof of Jenna's love of dress-up. And often times she wants to wear multiple outfits at once...maybe she'll start a new trend..? :)

Love this picture of the kiddos. We were trying to get a picture of the two of them for Paw-paw's Father's Day gift. Grant finger painted and Jenna painted with brushes some pictures for my dad. Then I got a frame with 3- 4x6 spots and put this picture of the kids in the middle with the paintings above and below it.

I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow from Father's Day. We're going on a family camping trip this weekend, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to squeeze in another post in the midst of laundry and packing. I'll try though!

New Pool

Summer is HERE!!! And we're loving being outside...as long as it's not too hot. ;) So since we're outside so much and since Jenna really enjoys the water, we decided to get another pool for her and Grant. After seeing that my cousin has this "pool", we decided to get one too - it just looks like so much fun! You hook the hose up to it and there are little water spouts all over it as well as a dolphin you can "ride" (Jenna's riding it in the picture below), a whale slide, and some other fun things. I thought this would be a little more fun for Grant too instead of just sitting in a little pool of water. Jenna really seems to like it, even though she might be a little too big for it (that's what you get when you're 41 lbs at 2 1/2 years old), but the few times we've put Grant in it, he doesn't seem so sure about it. He gets kind of stiff and eventually cries. Sometimes he'll splash around a little bit, but I think he really doesn't like the cold water. I'm hoping maybe he'll warm up to it, otherwise we might just have to wait until next summer for him to enjoy it. Either way, it's something fun for the kids (or for Jenna).

He seems to kind of enjoy the pool in this picture...

Since we have no shade in our backyard, I absolutely LOVE having this canopy. It definitely makes the hot days more bearable when we can sit in the shade, but still be outside.

On another note, I got some Mr. (and Mrs.) Potato Heads at a garage sale and just recently pulled them out for Jenna to play with...and she LOVES them. FYI for other parents out there with young kids...it's a great gift for 2- or 3-year olds!

It's funny seeing how Jenna decorates the potato...with an arm coming out of the top of the head and an ear on his mouth.

Yes, we let Jenna wear the potato's glasses...but then realized afterward that it wasn't a good idea and bent them a little. Oops!

And lastly, I had to include a picture of my son's path of destruction. Here's the "before" picture...

...And after...yep, he's a dumper. Just likes to take everything off the shelves and dump things out...and then he moves on to the next thing. Funny boy!

Troy Strawberry Festival Parade

Today was the Strawberry Festival Parade in our town. It's the first time Drew and the kids have gone and many, many years since I last went. The past few years our church has decorated a float to include in the parade to promote our upcoming Vacation Bible School. This year Drew was really involved in helping to create the float so we were anxious to see it.

Jenna and Daddy walking back from getting a balloon at the library.

Ready for the parade to begin

I brought Jenna's bubbles to help keep her occupied while we waited for the parade to start.

Grant played on the blanket for a little bit, but now that he's mobile, he's not as content to just sit in one spot. :)

My parents joined us at the parade.

The kiddos and me

Grant had the best seat and a great view! ;)

The sign for our church

My cousin drove the truck pulling the float and his wife and boys rode with him.

Our space themed float - the VBS theme this year is Operation Space.

Don't you love the fog effect?!

I don't know what it is, but Grant always falls quietly to sleep in Drew's arms! He doesn't make a peep - just lays his head down and is out. Now, when he's in my arms it's another story...haha! Just glad he'll take a good nap for one of us when we're out. :) He took a pretty good nap - even slept through a few loud bands.

Jenna gave the strawberry lady a "high five". :)

It was the perfect day for the parade - perfect weather and a great location. We were planning on going over to the festival after the parade, but the kids were tired and hungry and the temperature was in the 90s by then. It quickly became VERY hot. So we decided just to head home, let the kids eat and get a nap, and then play out back in their pool. :) It was a great day!
