April Pics

Here are some random pictures from April...

Grant sleeping so soundly in his crib

Grant playing "peek-a-boo" with Jenna's blanket. It was so sweet! Thankfully we got it on video too. "Where's Grant...??"

"PEEK-A-BOO!!"

Jenna's gotten much better about not getting into things she shouldn't. However, we accidentally left one of her nail polishes on top of the desk and she thought her whole body needed some pretty purple sparkle color. If you click on the picture, it'll enlarge and you can really see the "damage". It's on her legs, arms, stomach, toes, and cheek. Thankfully she didn't get any on the chair and only a little bit on the desk and floor.

Hilarious! We caught her climbing into Bailey's crate. A definite tight squeeze!

Enjoying a beautiful day outside

We got this child carrier that hooks on to the back of an adult bike from our neighbor, so we wanted to try it out for the first time.

I wish this picture of Grant wasn't blurry - it's a good one.

Jenna's all ready to go

Since there was a cover over the front, we decided to put Bailey in there too. Jenna did well with him, but Grant kept pulling his tail, so I don't think Bailey was a big fan of the ride.
Playtime while Jenna was napping

I absolutely love this picture. We got the Hello Kitty rain boots from a friend at church. They're a size too big on her, which makes them even cuter.

I had to bribe her with a gummy bear to get a good picture of her standing there smiling.
I thought this picture was so funny. Jenna and Daddy were walking down to the end of our street and, yes, Jenna does have clothes on under her raincoat even though it doesn't look like it. Haha!

This has turned into one of Jenna's bedtime routines. Either Drew or I read her some stories in the rocking chair in her room and the other ends up laying on the floor. Then Jenna will lay down with one of us and ask for the blanket. It might sound silly, but we both enjoy as much cuddle time as we can get with her - she's not one to slow down and do that much.

It seems like there's been a lot of new developments with Grant lately. He now is crawling around all over the place and he's pulling himself up to a standing position. Plus two more teeth just poked through for a total of 5 teeth. Whew...he must be exhausted! ;)

Ducks!

Over a month ago, Bailey discovered that a Mama duck had scooted under our shed in the backyard, made a nest, and layed some eggs. During that time we had to keep Bailey away from the shed. He could get underneath it but couldn't quite reach the duck, but we still didn't want him under there barking and bothering her.

So one day the kids and I were in the back yard - they were swinging while I was mowing. As I came around the corner of the shed, I saw the Mama duck had emerged with 2 other ducklings. I immediately stopped the mower, ran and got the camera, and had Jenna come over to see them. As we watched, more baby ducklings came out...and then some more...and some more. Thirteen in all! We had a great time watching them follow closely behind their Mama and helping them get out of our backyard and toward the direction of the neighborhood pond. It was so much fun and a neat "hands-on" learning experience for Jenna.

Grant's Dedication/Mother's Day

On Mother's Day, our church gives families the option of dedicating their children to the Lord. We love the idea since our children are not ours - the Lord has just entrusted us to raise them, but ultimately they are His. We are also dedicating to raise our children in a way that is pleasing to God and consistent with the Bible. I just love how they do this on Mother's Day - so special!

The Pastor reads some scripture
They gave us a little Bible for Grant, a book for boys about the fruits of the Spirit, and a book for us with advice on raising kids. The book is called, "Don't Make Me Count to Three" by Ginger Plowman. Great book! We got that book at Jenna's dedication and we both really like it.

Then our Pastor holds the babies while he prays for them.

All of us with our Pastor.

And Mommy with her kiddos. I am so blessed!! I love you Jenna and Grant!

And here are a few pictures of the kids from last week...

A friend of ours gave us some girl clothes and this shirt was in the stack. Love it!

And some pictures of my happy boy Grant...all smiles!

Enjoying the Outdoors

The weather has been WONDERFUL the past few days, so we've been spending a lot of time outside. Jenna's even been able to get in her swimming suit and Grant's enjoyed playing in the water.

Grant standing by himself (of course holding on for balance).

Sitting in the chair worked well so he could easily put his hands in the water. Of course when I wasn't taking a few pictures, I was sitting right next to him because a few times he would push his feet against the water table just enough to start rocking himself backwards.

Relaxed!

Yesterday while we were outside, I thought the kids would enjoy a popsicle. This was Grant's first popsicle and he really enjoyed it. It made me feel better that each popsicle only had 2 grams of sugar and there was no added sugar.

Then a little later Jenna was saying that she was hungry, so I thought a healthy snack would be good. I brought out the watermelon and thought Grant might enjoy sucking on it. He LOVED it! I just had to keep my eye on him to make sure he wasn't biting off big chunks.

Upside down peek-a-boo

So although Grant is not crawling yet, he's so very close. He'll take some "steps" forward with his hands, but then plop before moving his legs forward. He's also very good at scooting backwards and sitting up. So even though he isn't crawling, he is still able to get around by rolling, sitting up, and scooting backwards. Just the past few days he's started getting up on his hands and feet like he's in the bear crawl position and then he'll peek his head between his arms. It's sooo cute!

Getting into the position

Almost there...

PEEK!

LOVE this picture

Here he was losing his balance and about to plop back on his bottom.

He's also starting to pull himself up. At least he's trying to pull himself up. He wants to so badly but can't quite get all the way up. It won't be long!
