1st Camping Trip

Yes, we took the plunge and went on a (tent) camping trip with an (almost) 9-month old. It probably wouldn't have been too difficult if it hadn't rained the entire weekend. And with a crawling baby who would rather be on the floor exploring rather than held, it made it quite difficult. But, we had fun despite the rain. Luckily, friends of ours that also came have a big camper, so Jenna and Mommy would go in there every so often so Jenna could crawl around and play.

Poor little girl - how uncomfortable does that look?!

She's a movin'!!! Yep, Jenna is now crawling and has been for the past few weeks. She's quite good at it and now she's pulling herself up. She loves climbing over and on top of things - anything really. She also loves standing. That's all she wants to do anymore is crawl over to something and pull herself up. Drew's even seen her take a few steps next to the couch. Wow!

I had to show you these next two pictures (even though they're a few months old). Jenna used to always put her fingers in her mouth upside down. She's never been a thumb sucker - really any finger or fingers will do for her.

This next group of pictures were taken August 24th, just after she started crawling.

And here's Bailey... He follows Jenna and myself everywhere we go and the ottoman is "his spot" in Jenna's room. Whether we're playing in there or I'm nursing her, he always has to sit on the ottoman. And he's even picky about it. There can't be anything on it or he'll just stand next to it and bark until you move the items. What can I say...he's our first-born so he's a little spoiled. ;)

This is usually what happens when I get the camera out. She has a fascination with cameras and phones. As soon as she noticed the camera, she crawled over to see if she could play with it.

Here's some "proof" of Jenna wanting to climb and crawl over EVERYTHING. Her favorite is to climb under the table and chairs. Sometimes she'll get stuck and will fuss until I get her free.

Now that she is crawling, Drew and I have had to officially babyproof the house. A gate is up at the top of the stairs (which Bailey is still trying to get used to), the outlets have been plugged, and small objects have been moved up higher. However, the one thing that I can't really move (at least not permanently) that Jenna LOVES to get is Bailey's food and water bowls. We can be in the other room and know when Jenna sees the bowls on the floor because she starts panting and crawling at super speed to get to them. A few times I've had to dig a piece or two of dog food out of her mouth and a couple other times she's bathed herself with Bailey's drinking water. We're getting pretty used to keeping those off the floor though, but that's just something else Bailey's having to adjust to now.

Well, my little girl is finished eating her pears and raspberries for dinner, so I'd better get her cleaned up!

Best Buds...

I don't have much time to update, although I have lots of pictures of Jenna that I've been meaning to put on here. Instead, I'll leave you with a cute video of Jenna "playing" with Bailey. If only he'd reciprocate...

Moto GP

A few weekends ago, Drew and I went to the MotoGP race in Indianapolis. A friend of ours who works for American Honda (the motorcycle division of Honda) was able to get us free tickets. The big race was on Sunday, but we left on Saturday afternoon so we could catch the Saturday evening stunt riding show.

Here we are Saturday evening...

This is our friend Jerrod that got us the tickets.

And here's a video of some of the tricks and stunts they did...

Then Sunday afternoon we headed over to the track for the big race. It's the same track as the Indy 500. We really couldn't have asked for better weather. The only problem was how LOUD it was! I had never been to a race like this and didn't realize how loud it gets. Jerrod had given us some of those yellow squishy earplugs for Jenna, but they wouldn't stay in her ears. So, being the paranoid mother, I kept Jenna far enough away from the track so that she wouldn't go deaf.

Check out this video of the race. It gives you a real good glimpse at just how fast they are going!!

Trip to South Carolina

A few weeks ago, Drew, Jenna, and I met up with my parents and grandma at my uncle and aunt's house in Anderson, SC. We had such a great time visiting with family, going boating, skiing, tubing, and swimming. What a great mini-vacation!

Jenna and Mommy at a rest stop. It started raining as we were posing for the picture and we ended up running back to the car.

On the boat, ready to go!

My Uncle Keith and Aunt Mary

My uncle and dad - can you see the resemblance?!?

Everytime Jenna was on the boat, she would fall asleep. It must have been the humming of the engine and the rocking of the water. It was great!

Jenna in her lifevest. Don't you just love the scrunched up face? She's trying to chew on the vest.

Daddy and Jenna walking back to the house from the boat.

Daddy and Jenna enjoying the water

What a cutie!
All 3 of us

Daddy and Jenna taking a swim. Jenna loved being in the water with Daddy, especially without her vest or floatie. Don't worry, this was at a dock and Drew was able to touch the bottom.

Drew skiing - he's a natural!

And then there's me... I DID get up though! Drew was so excited, he didn't get a picture of it. But I did get up for about 10-15 seconds. Yay!!

Now check out these videos...

This first one is of me tubing.

Here's Drew tubing...be sure to watch the ENTIRE video. ;)

Army Crawl

One more video for the week...we're well on our way to having a crawling baby! Thursday evening Jenna started doing an army crawl across the floor - mostly to get Bailey's toys. Drew was actually the first one to see it, which was fun for him.
