Wegerzyn Gardens

Another thing we wanted to do with the kids this summer was take them to Wegerzyn Gardens - a FREE children's garden that's only 20 minutes from our house.  During the summer months, they have a little waterfall and man-made creek that kids can play in.  We left late in the day and ate a packed dinner in their picnic area, then ventured in to the gardens to play.  I wasn't sure how long the kids would enjoy the water since it's not exactly a pool.  To be honest, I thought they'd get bored with it after just a few minutes and be ready to move on to the next thing; however, they surprised me and spent over an hour just playing in the water area!  We then ventured through the rest of the gardens before closing time.  They had a blast!

There were a few other kids there and Jenna loves to make friends.  She is definitely not shy and just joins right in.  I'm working with her now on asking kids their name and then calling them by that rather than just saying, "friend" all the time.  :)

Playing in a cute cave/tunnel

A musical garden maze filled with some musical instruments.

In one of the play areas we found this bug coming out of it's shell.  We thought it was a cicada, but I don't think it is.  Any guesses??

The kids and I rowing in our canoe.  It was a crazy adventure filled with water falls and bears and snakes!

They have a beautiful pond area there and a little rocking chair for the kids to sit on.

Sitting down to enjoy our dinner!
There were lots of other fun things there that we didn't get pictures of - filling watering buckets with water from a pump to pour on the plants, playing in the sand, and running through some fun "wooded" areas.  We had so much fun, we just might have to come back again!
